MicroStrategy Acquires 12,333 BTC
MicroStrategy continues to add Bitcoin to its reserves. The company announced on Wednesday that they have purchased over 12,000 in just a few months. This allowed the company led by Phong Le to become the largest holder of BTC in the world, as per Bitcoin Treasuries.
It is worth pointing out that MicroStrategy has been taking key steps towards becoming one of the key players in the cryptocurrency market. For example, the company has now 152,333 BTC for a total value of €4.64 billion.
Other companies that have purchased Bitcoin in the past include Marathon Digital Holdings (12,232 BTC), Tesla (9,720 BTC), Hut 8 Mining Corp (8,388 BTC) and Block, Inc. (8,027 BTC). These companies together are now holding 0,907% of the total Bitcoin supply (capped at 21 million).
In the future, MicroStrategy could continue to add Bitcoin to its stack and reach 1% of the total Bitcoin supply. Every four years, Bitcoin reduces its new issuance by 50%, meaning that there is lower selling pressure in the market coming from new Bitcoins.
In 2024, Bitcoin will experience a new halving event that will reduce the new issuance of BTC to 3.125 BTC per block from 6,25 BTC now per block. In this way, the new issuance of BTC will be reduced to just 450 new Bitcoin per day released to the market. In this context, MicroStrategy gains a large advantage compared to other companies and even governments.
